Before my trip, I thought staying in central Paris was the only option.
Closer to everything. Easier. More “ideal.”
But I ended up staying outside the center—and I didn’t regret it.
The Trade-Off
I stayed at Aparthotel Adagio Access Paris Quai d’Ivry.
So yes, it wasn’t walking distance to the main attractions.
My commute to central Paris was around 30 minutes.
At first, that sounds like a downside.
But in reality, it didn’t feel like one.
The Area
What I got instead was a quieter, more local environment.
No tourist crowds. No noise.
Just a normal neighborhood.
It felt safe, relaxed, and more like actual day-to-day Paris life.
Coming Back After a Long Day
This is something I didn’t expect to appreciate.
After walking around busy areas all day, going back to a calm place felt different.
It helped reset the pace.
Hindi ka agad pagod mentally.
Getting Around
Because the transport system is efficient, distance didn’t feel like a problem.
There was a nearby train station and bus stop.
So even if I wasn’t in the center, I was still connected.
Once you understand the system, everything becomes manageable.
The Value
Price-wise, it made sense.
I paid almost half compared to smaller hotels in central Paris.
And in exchange, I got:
- more space
- quieter surroundings
- better overall comfort
Would I Do It Again?
Yes.
Not because it’s better than staying in the center—but because it fits how I travel.
You don’t need to be in the middle of everything to enjoy Paris.
Sometimes, being a bit outside gives you a different—and better—experience.
