St. Petersburg doesn’t hit you immediately.
It grows on you while you walk.
Cold, quiet, and a bit distant at first. But once you spend time in it, you start to notice the details.
First Feel
The first thing I noticed was the cold.
Hindi siya lamig lang. It’s the kind that makes you walk slower without realizing it.
Even the river was frozen.
That alone changes how the city looks.
Where I Stayed
Nomera Na Sadovoj Hotel.
Good location, easy to move around, and close enough to main areas without feeling too crowded.
Everything felt walkable from there.
What to See
Hermitage Museum
Massive. You don’t try to see everything.
You just walk and accept that you’ll miss parts of it.
Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
One of those places that looks exactly like photos — but still hits differently in person.
Especially with snow around it.
Nevsky Prospekt
Main street.
Walking here felt simple. Shops, buildings, people — but everything felt slightly more reserved compared to other cities.
Walking the City
I didn’t do tours.
Mostly walking.
Even with the cold, it felt manageable. Just slower.
The frozen surroundings made everything feel more still.
Transportation
I used the metro when needed.
Also did some metro hopping — just to see stations and move between areas.
Simple system once you get used to it.
Food
Nothing overly planned.
Chicken pie stood out.
Most of the time, I ended up in familiar places like Carl’s Jr.
Not everything needs to be local to be part of the trip.
Overall Feel
St. Petersburg felt calm.
Less intense.
More reflective.
Not loud. Not overwhelming.
Just steady.
