One thing I didn’t expect to love in Paris—their transport system.
Not just because it’s efficient, but because of how seamless it felt to use.
I didn’t even use a physical card most of the time.
Everything was on my phone.
Cardless Travel Setup
Instead of buying a physical ticket or transport card, I just added the transport pass to my phone.
After that, that’s it.
No need to open any app. No need to scan anything manually.
Just tap.
The NFC Experience
This was the part that really impressed me.
You can tap your phone—even with the screen off.
No unlocking. No opening apps.
It’s already embedded in your phone’s NFC.
You just walk to the gate, tap, and go.
Simple as that.
First time I did it, napaisip ako—“ang galing nito ah.”
It felt advanced, but also very natural once you get used to it.
What I Used
I used everything:
- metro
- RER
- buses
And the experience was consistent across all of them.
No need to adjust depending on the type of transport.
Same system, same process.
Navigation
For directions, I only used Google Maps.
That was enough.
Routes were clear, instructions were accurate, and everything matched what I experienced on the ground.
Convenience
This is where Paris stood out.
No need to line up for tickets
No need to reload constantly
No need to carry another card
Everything just works.
You move without thinking too much about the process.
Overall
Transport in Paris didn’t feel like a task.
It felt like part of the experience.
Simple, efficient, and honestly—one of the things I appreciated the most during the trip.
