This is a complete 1-day itinerary covering the main spots in Nara.
Everything is close to each other, so this is very walkable and easy to follow.
Morning – Arrival + Nara Park
Arrive early if possible.
Start at Nara Park.
Walk around first before buying deer crackers so you can observe how the deer behave.
When you’re ready, try feeding them—but be prepared, they will follow you once they know you have food.
Take your time here. No need to rush.
Late Morning – Todai-ji Temple
From Nara Park, walk to Todai-ji.
Explore the temple grounds and go inside to see the Great Buddha.
This is one of the main highlights of Nara, so don’t skip it.
Afternoon – Kasuga Taisha + Surroundings
Head to Kasuga Taisha Shrine.
The walk going there is part of the experience—quiet paths, lanterns, and fewer crowds.
After that, you can pass by Kofuku-ji if you’re heading back toward the station.
Optional Add-ons
If you still have time:
- Naramachi area (old town vibe)
- small cafés nearby
- more time in the park
