Bangkok is one of those cities I don’t mind repeating.
I’ve been here more than once, and each time feels slightly different depending on the pace, the people I’m with, and how much I actually want to do.
This 7-day plan is how I would do Bangkok if I had more time — not rushing, with a mix of city days and one or two day trips.
Day 1 — Arrival + Reset
Arrival in Bangkok
Check-in (Pratunam or Khao San area)
Afternoon
Short walk
Street food nearby
Evening
Khao San Road
Light dinner, nothing heavy
First day is just about settling in.
Day 2 — Old Bangkok
Morning
Grand Palace
Wat Phra Kaew
Afternoon
Wat Pho
Ferry to Wat Arun
Evening
Dinner by the river or back near your hotel
Mainit, so pace yourself. Take breaks.
Day 3 — Markets + Shopping
Morning
Chatuchak Weekend Market (if weekend)
Afternoon
Platinum Mall / Pratunam
Evening
Dinner around Siam
Short walk around CentralWorld
This is the “shopping but still walking” day.
Day 4 — Ayutthaya Day Trip
Morning
Travel to Ayutthaya (train or tour)
Visit temples
Bike or tuk-tuk around
Afternoon
Late lunch
Return to Bangkok
Evening
Rest or massage
Good break from the city.
Day 5 — Slow City Day
Morning
Lumphini Park
Afternoon
Café stop
Mall (Siam / MBK)
Evening
Rooftop bar or quiet dinner
You need at least one slow day in Bangkok.
Day 6 — Floating Market or Maeklong
Morning
Day trip (Damnoen Saduak or Maeklong Railway Market)
Afternoon
Return to Bangkok
Evening
Jodd Fairs or night market
This adds variety to the trip.
Day 7 — Last Day
Morning
Final shopping
Coffee
Afternoon
Pack and prepare for flight
Where I Usually Stay
Pratunam — convenient, near shopping
Khao San — more social
Silom — more balanced, quieter
Depends on your travel style.
What Makes 7 Days Worth It
Bangkok is easy to underestimate.
If you stay longer, you stop trying to “cover everything” and start enjoying the city more naturally.
You walk slower. You repeat places. You find your own routine.
And that’s when Bangkok actually becomes more enjoyable.
